The 1979-1982 Porsche 924 Turbo

Overview

The 914 represented Porsche's only mid-engine road car, developed as a joint venture with Volkswagen between 1969 and 1976. The 914 employed a rear-mounted four-cylinder engine (914-4) or six-cylinder engine (914-6) in a removable targa-roof roadster configuration. The designation reflected the car's target positioning: 9 (90-degree V-engine intended, though replaced with four-cylinder), 1 (one of a kind in Porsche's lineup), and 4 (four cylinders or later 6 for six cylinders).
