The carry-over from the first to second generation of the 997 model was far more than just a facelift, delivering performance and efficiency unparalleled in its class. The rear-mounted 3.6-liter flat-six now generated 345 horsepower and a 12.5% decrease in fuel consumption from its predecessor, producing 0-60 runs in 4.5 seconds, a top speed of 178 mph, yet still receiving a Low Emissions Vehicle classification. This resulted from the introduction of direct fuel injection, higher compression ratios (12.5:1) and freer-flowing intake manifolds. The 997.2 Carreras also benefited from Porsche’s new PDK gearbox, which had been in development since the 962 was dominating Group C, but was finally implemented into a road-going application for the 2009-and-up Carreras. The 7-speed unit replaced the 5-speed Tiptronic S, shaving 22 pounds of weight in the process but most importantly delivering nearly-instant gear changes even under full load.
The 911 Carrera being offered is finished in the classic shade of Guards Red over a black leather interior, with one owner covering just over 20k miles. The original price of $92, 300 included 12-way power heated and ventilated seats, Infotainment package, Navigation, BOSE Surround Sound, and 19-inch Sport Design wheels with colored Porsche crests.
